Frequently asked questions

What is a SaaS customer exit interview?

It is a short conversation with a cancelled or at-risk customer that uncovers the reason behind the stated cancellation reason and shows the team what to change.

Which channels can SaaS teams use?

Web, Phone, WhatsApp, In-app, Email, and SMS cover every customer journey. Web is the main channel and launches without an app or system connection.

Does UnderHeard integrate with HubSpot?

Yes. HubSpot and custom integrations are supported. Teams can also start with a plain customer list when they need answers before connecting a system.

Can we interview customers after they cancel?

Yes. The cancellation remains free and complete first. The interview is a separate, voluntary invitation to explain what happened.

How long does a customer interview take?

Each conversation takes five minutes. That gives the interviewer time for a useful follow-up while respecting the customer's time.

What does the report show?

The report groups conversations into recurring themes, includes the evidence behind them, and ranks what to fix first by impact and effort.

Can teams use this for churned and active customers?

Yes. SaaS teams can speak with cancelled customers, customers with declining usage, new customers after onboarding, and accounts approaching renewal.

How is this different from an exit survey?

An exit survey records the answer a customer chooses. An interview can ask a relevant follow-up, capture context, and distinguish a symptom from the root cause.

Can the findings inform product and customer success?

Yes. Product teams get evidence for roadmap decisions, while customer success teams see the moments, objections, and fixes that affect retention.

Do customers have to take part?

No. Every interview invitation is voluntary. Customers can decline without affecting their cancellation, account, or support.

Stop guessing. Start hearing.
